Week 7- MKTG 3347 - Unaware Consent



    Terms of service also known as TOS refer to rules online users must comply with to use online platforms and services. TOS agreements are often found when users create new accounts on social media platforms (including Google), cellphone apps (like App Store), and online banks. Since these agreements can be found almost everywhere, the importance of understanding what users are agreeing to should be apparent. According to the article "Fully informed consent must be respected, especially in the age of AI," it states that 90% of users do not read the TOS agreement. Many individuals find themselves becoming banned for not complying with the rules.  The purpose of a TOS agreement is to inform users on how their data is used and there have been cases where a user's data has been shared with third parties and or can be resold. 

    Due to the increased use of AI and cyber security attacks, users must be aware of what they are agreeing to in order to understand if agreements align with their boundaries. Users should become knowledgeable about the data privacy laws and regulate the services/apps they use. The TOS can be very tricky because it includes a variety of terms and agreements that the user must follow and or know. It becomes a chore to read every single word in a TOS agreement when you have multiple apps but in the end, if not done it can cause issues to arise.

                                                                                                        Ch. 4     Many individuals are feeling stuck and do not enjoy their current jobs; some may believe that they do not have any options or fear of doing a career change. According to an article by the Pew Research Center, it states that 1 in 5 workers will be looking for new jobs, and 60% of those that did switch found an increase in their pay  (Kochhar). It is known that wages are one of the main reasons why individuals leave jobs and another reason would be that they are unhappy. By increasing wages, employers will be able to provide more stability for employees; this will make the individuals more happy if they are being paid fairly. While this can be great for some individuals others may find themselves still in a cycle of unhappiness.
