Week 5- MKTG 3347 - Branding yourself

Personal branding is the process of identifying and promoting your personal values. It entails showcasing your distinct skills, experiences, and qualities to best represent yourself. Social media users must be aware of how they promote themselves because what they post reflects on them. This is so important because if you are promoting yourself in a way that you do not want to be seen as it will impact you.

Forbes and the Harvard Business Review have plenty of great tips to get started but I found some to be more important than others which were:
1. Have consistent social media platforms that you are okay with showing to employers.
2. Be yourself and showcase what you value.
3. Add value to your target markets and engage with them within your post.
4. Create connections; and be open to networking.

Although not all employers conduct social media background checks, you may come across ones that do. Individuals should arrange their social media profiles to represent themselves how they want to be seen. In workplaces, it is common for coworkers to share their social media accounts. Therefore there may be a possibility of negative content being exposed and can jeopardize your career.
